Traditional Essay vs Video Essay Javier Serrato

Video Essay could certainly replace the traditional essays is the classroom. Erlend Lavik explains in “The Video Essay: The Future of Academic Film and Television Criticism” how Video Essay provide an audiovisual aspect that appeals more to certain learner engaging more senses than the traditional essay. Lavik emphasizes how the audio and visual media’s contribution in video essays are significant in getting a point across.

The biggest concern I believe there is with a transition from traditional essays to video essays in the classroom would be the manner in which work gets graded. I think video essays create an area of creative freedom within the visual and audio aspect that could be harder to grade than traditional essays.
