Lavik Response: Jorell Jimenez

I think that there is the potential for video essays to replace traditional essays in the classroom just from the growing popularity of the online video format. There are many different ways to edit a video to convey the subject at hand. It would be more accessible and more widespread by using the internet as a means of distribution. I think their may be some problems with legitimacy, even though I believe it is a legitimate academic work. The only issue being is that with everything online in a video format, and with streaming and cloud services being more popular per day, these online forms of media would be inaccessible if internet or power goes down, or easily removed from the public eye by unfortunate server accidents, whereas in print there would mostly likely be multiple sources of a copy that could then be used for redistribution. But other than the logistical issues, I do not see many for the different between a traditional or video essay. Video essays are easier to watch, to follow along to, and can perform similar means of distributing information as traditional essays.
