Jai – Objectively Good or Bad

Do you think something can be objectively bad or good? What is a good remix? How do you judge it?

No, nothing can be objectively good or bad because these are subjective terms. I don’t know that objectivity really exists in this world because we are forming statements based on our personal lived experiences and we often forget to consider every perspective or circumstance.

A good remix uses the sample as the vessel for an authentic message from the artist. The sample is recognizable but does not follow the same tempo or rely on the sample to be what makes the song successful. The sound feels original and also captures the way music has changed through time. I judge a good remix based off of the originality present in the piece, as well as whether or not the artist paid respect to the sample in their delivery.
