I’m very interested in Simon Says by NCT 127. In the beginning of the track, Simon Says adds a part of the roar in the Emotional Wedding Haka Moves Maori Brides to Tears. This special clip of the sounds makes the music more fascinating and a sense of magnificent shows from the start of the song. The title “Simon Says” is a game that all participants should listen to Simons’ commands. This reflects on how idols influence their fans. Therefore, the song is about how NCT 127 wants to be themselves and be their own Simons. They also appeal their fans to have independent minds, find the true selves, and live for themselves not for other people. The meaning of Maori’s performance in the wedding might not completely accord with the meaning of the song, however, the affirmative sound and the determination that embodies from it are enough to reflect the spirit of finding oneself. The sample featured in the start of the song makes the whole song more solemn and steadfast.
