Benjamin Respomse

I do happen to agree with Benjamin’s assessment of mechanical reproduction in the essay “The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction”.  I think that seeing art unaltered and in real-time is the most powerful for the viewer. It is special to see art in this way and less common as mechanical reproduction has become mainstream. The “aura” of a work of art gives a whole experience that I believe cannot be recreated. However, mechanical reproduction has its advantages in the sense it can help increase the accessibility of famous artworks. Not everyone has the ability to see work live and in this way, mechanical reproduction can offer aid in making it possible for art to be spread.
