LdR Youtube Thumbnail reflection

For my youtube thumbnail, I was inspired by a genre of youtube that I enjoy and is very popular on youtube. This genre is the reaction genre, where youtubers film themselves reacting to another form of media such as a video, movie, or meme. Their thumbnails almost always have the same design. Taking up most the thumbnail is a picture of their face that has the most wild expression on it to grab the viewers attention. Then in the background is usually some text or an image of the thing they are reacting to which helps give an idea of how their reaction is going to play out. That is exactly how I designed my thumbnail, with a picture of my face with an overexageratted expression that looks like I am shocked. Then in the background, is a background template of the Euro 2020 soccer tournament. Also included is an England flag that contains a famous expression, “It’s coming home”, which English fans chant to inspire their team to win the tournament.

The audience I was trying to reach with my thumbnail are soccer fans because with my approach of the thumbnail, it is obvious that it relates to the Euro 2020 tournament. I could have taken another approach where I included a different flag other then England, but with popularity of soccer in England and their iconic expression of “It’s coming home”, it has the best opportunity to get more clicks or views than if I included a different flag.
