Thumbnail Close Reading: Jorell Jimenez

For my thumbnail close reading, I choose the League of Legends video for the release of their Project skin line, titled Overdrive. This is an somewhat older video, dated back about 5 years, but I remember being intrigued by the design of the thumbnail due to its obvious cyberpunk theme with the Neon colors of the cityscape and weapon colors as well as the robotic nature of the characters in the foreground. The video contains portions of the official title, giving general overview as to what the video will be about and the type of video you are about to watch.

The characters stances portray a sense of battle, with the characters staring into the background with their weapons ready. Not being able to look at any of the characters in the eye draws the attention of the viewer to the background, which has bright neon lights being darkened, invoking an ominous undertone to the overall narrative. This thumbnail provides enough information and intrigue for the fans of the game to delve themselves into this trailer, and possibly persuade their fans to purchase the skins.
