Thumbnail Close Reading-Noah Burnette

For my thumbnail close reading, I chose this video by Sadie Crowell. When I opened YouTube and looked through my home page, this video immediately caught my eye. The “I’M PREGNANT” really stood out because I have seen Sadie’s videos before and know she is around the same age as me. I also found it interesting how she chose a picture of her kissing someone as the cover picture because she knew it would get lots of attention from her audience.

The bright blue background is another aspect of this thumbnail that would attract eyes. Even if you were not directly looking for this video, the color would pop out and grab your attention. Sadie is known for her vlogs so the title of “craziest beach trip ever” is another incentive for people to watch and see what happened. Overall, Sadie’s use of clickbait and images would attract many people other than her fanbase and grow her platform. This thumbnail is a great example of what youtubers do to get clicks, even if it means saying you got pregnant.
