Riley Hatcher – Thumbnail Close Read

I came across this instantly! This woman’s name is Judy D, and Judy D created this video in April of 2021. What caught my eye the most was the look in her eyes, not even the horror of bloodshot eyes, but her face. I think the look in her eye drew me in because her eyes are popped out so wide with fear, disgust, and even anticipation. Based on the pictures of Judy, one can see that she is getting her makeup done. In addition, the text “so rude” provokes that the experience was terrible.

Moreover, the use of red for the text further exemplifies anger for the situation. Lastly, the text placed in the middle of the thumbnail allows for a tremendous main focal point. I read the thumbnail from the center to the left and then to the right because of the text. The image to the left allows the intended audience to sneak peek at what is to come. Consequently, it draws in the audience to ask, “Oh my gosh, what will the outcome be?” That question can be answered with the component above, which is the five stars. I thought the use of that component was great because it’s familiar and used universally to describe places, experiences, etc.

The intended audience is people who love makeup, people seeking a good laugh, and possibly people who want to know the don’ts of makeup.
