Title: Nonlocal operators and Graph Regularizations with Applications

Abstract: In this talk, I will present a methodology of exploiting similarity for image processing.  Its idea is inspired by the fact that human perception has the tendency to look for similar patterns. As many repetitive structures occur naturally in an image or image sequence, it is possible to recover the image by identifying similar image contents and collaboratively enhancing them. The mathematical formulation behind the similarity is referred to as nonlocal operators. This line of research motivates a series of graph-based regularizations, which surged to popularity recently for dealing with high-dimension data defined on an irregular domain. The talk will be supplemented by several real applications ranging from 4D CT reconstruction to hyperspectral unmixing.
