Title: Geometric Optimization: triangles, points and graphs (Part 01)
Abstract: The first part of the talk will begin with a brief introduction to geometry processing, highlighting some fundamental challenges in discrete differential geometry. I will then present an approach for optimizing geometric problems expressed in terms of the singular values of matrices, and discuss recent work with Connor Magoon aimed to efficiently solve these optimization problems.
In the second part of the talk, I will discuss ongoing work with Fengyu Yang, where we study connections between the optimization of point cloud distribution, Lloyd’s algorithm and spectral optimization. If time permits, I will discuss a new project related to the processing of BOLD (blood-oxygen-level-dependent) fMRI signals on structural connectome graphs.
