Our application, called Just In Time, is a project for the UNC Nursing Staff and UNC Center for Nursing Excellence. The team has been regularly meeting with our client, Ashley Kellish, and other members of the UNC Nursing Staff to provide updates regarding progress of the application. Overall, the application serves as a way for nurses to communicate updates with each other. It is imperative that the nurses use a form of instant communication as they are always out and moving and rarely will have time for organized meetings.
The need that we are meeting with the JustInTime application is a quick, clear, and centralized communication hub via notifications for UNC nurses. Previously, there has not been a customized system for UNC Nursing staff to receive information updates besides traditional methods like email and broad purpose business applications. The JustInTime application meets this need by providing an admin interface for messages to be sent from and a mobile app that alerts Nurses on their mobile phones.
In the world of healthcare it is particularly important for care providers to receive certain information on time. For instance, policy updates or updates to best practices for nursing should be quickly and clearly communicated. Giving admins the ability to send out instant notifications and letting users customize their feed allows UNC Nursing to send out information much quicker than existing methods like email or staff meetings.
