CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – UNC Chancellor Kevin Guskiewicz may be leaving the university to become Michigan State University’s president.

Guskiewicz is the sole candidate for the position. He has served as UNC’s Chancellor since 2019. Prior to that, he served as the dean of the College of Arts & Sciences, the university’s largest school. He has worked at UNC since 1995.

In a statement, Guskiwicz said he is weighing his options.

“I am focused on serving the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a special place I have lived, worked, and loved for 28 years. I am very proud of what our university accomplishes every day as one of the best public universities in the country. Through the years, a variety of professional opportunities have been presented to me. My family and I must weigh each one, and we are weighing this one.”

Carolina Week is continuing to follow this story.
