Students hoping to use Chat GPT to write their next essay are out of luck. UNC’s Generative A.I. Committee has developed official guidelines and resources for A.I. use in the classroom.

Students can access videos on A.I. literacy, including prompting, fact-checking and proper documentation. For faculty, resources include sample syllabus guidelines for A.I. use on assignments and a training module series on teaching with A.I.

A list of A.I. tools and their uses is also available and will be updated on a semesterly basis.

Generative A.I. Committee Co-Chair Mark McNeilly said that A.I. is ubiquitous and will transform the way businesses and higher education operate.

“We knew that businesses and organizations would want our students to have generative AI skills,” he said. “And so as a result of that, we said, hey, we’ve got to make sure students have these skills, as well as our faculty and our staff.”
Those who wish to view the full list of resources can view the full list on the Office of the Provost webpage.
