CHAPEL HILL, N.C.— Carrboro Police are investigating after a body was found in a car in the parking lot of Al’s Garage.

Police were called to Al’s around 8 a.m. on Oct. 18. When they arrived, they found a dead body inside a Subaru Outback parked in Al’s back parking lot.

According to CPD, they are working with the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the identity of the man and the cause of death. The department also said there is no indication of a threat to the community.

According to the police report, the body is that of a black male, and he was found in a blue Subaru Outback. The owner of Al’s said the car had been in the lot for months and was not the property of the person found inside.

Al’s Garage is located on S. Merritt Mill Road, where Chapel Hill meets Carrboro. It is a high-traffic area that sees many cars and pedestrians passing by each day. The police encourage anyone with information to come forward. The investigator in this case can be reached at 919-918-7413.
