CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Mayor Damon Seils says that it is time for him to “return his attention to his personal and professional lives.” He has served one term as Mayor since being elected in 2021, and previously served on the Carrboro Town Council since 2013.
As Mayor, he directed the local response to COVID-19 and adopted a new comprehensive action plan in 2022 that focuses on racial equity and climate action.
Seils will remain mayor through the end of the year. A new mayor will be elected in November.
