Chapel Hill, N.C. – Dustin Taylor Oakley of Raleigh was arrested Monday night and charged with first degree kidnapping, felony larceny, misdemeanor larceny, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and felony possession of stolen goods.
5-year-old Arielle Williams was found safe Monday night around 11:00 pm, nearly an hour after an amber alert was issued.
Police say the girl was inside a dark blue 2003 Dodge Durango when it was stolen from Eastgate Shopping Center in Chapel Hill around 8:30 pm. The amber alert was issued just after 10:00 pm Monday night.
Police say Oakley jumped into the car and drove away with Williams inside. The car was later found at a Sheetz gas station in Harnett County, nearly 40 miles away from where the incident began.
Chapel Hill Police posted to their twitter, describing Williams as last seen wearing a tie-dye t-shirt, blue jeans and Adidas shoes. They also shared this image of the Williams:
Police also described the suspect, now identified as Oakley, as wearing a white shirt and white ball cap with a Hurley symbol. CHPD released this security camera image of Oakley:
Oakley is being held at the Orange County Detention Center on a $510,000 bond and is due in court at 2:00 pm Tuesday afternoon.
