DURHAM N.C. – President Biden took some time from the Oval Office to visit the Triangle.

The president kicked off his “Investing in America” tour in Durham to highlight his recent legislative achievements. He visited Wolfspeed, a semi-conductor manufactured and discussed American manufacturing. Last year, Wolfspeed announced a $5 billion investment in its Durham facility and the creation of 1,800 new jobs.

During his time, the President also praised the American Rescue Plan and discussed the importance of innovation during trying times.

“Now we are creating jobs. American products are being made here and we’re growing the economy,” Biden said.

The president was joined by NC Governor Roy Cooper and Durham Mayor Elaine O’Neal.

“Manufacturing is changing here,” Cooper said. “Building on our tradition of textiles and furniture to expand to a new generation of clean energy, electric vehicles, supersonic jets and semi-conductors.”

The president is expected make appearances in Texas, Ohio, and 20 other states in the coming weeks. First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and vice-president Kamala Harris are expected to join him on future appearances.
