CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The UNC Board of Trustees unanimously approved the demolition of Carrington Hall, the current School of Nursing Building. University officials plan for the renovations to begin in fall 2023.
The plans for the overhaul were approved during last week’s Budget, Finance, and Infrastructure Committee meeting.
According to the university, an alternate location for nursing classes have not been finalized, but plans are in active development.
While the change is positive, some nursing students are unsure of what next semester will look like.
Designs for the new building were also unveiled, which show a longer and bigger building than Carrington Hall’s current state.
The university expects the new School of Nursing building to open between 2025 and 2026.
