CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The University of Chapel Hill’s School of Education was awarded an investment of over four years to help improve the school culture in rural counties across North Carolina.
The fellowship will include graduate students who are pursuing a career to be a teacher or a school counselor, where they will be placed in Title 1 schools like Chatham and Person County Schools.
The goal is to allow the county’s school systems to benefit from well-educated professionals to foster an effective learning experience for the students to succeed and thrive in the future.
It will allow for the underprivileged students in the rural counties to have a chance and serve as a model for elevating the schools and provide a way for the students to realize their full potential. The impact of this program is seen as highly needed from the School of Education’s staff and professors.
