CHAPEL HILL, N.C.– There is a push for more green space in the towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro could lead to an expansion of Chapel Hill’s only public forest.

A group called Friends of the Greene Tract wants to push the Town of Chapel Hill to develop another forest that is twice as large as Caraway Village but for public use and preserving forests.

The group hopes that the town and community will follow their plan on having 80 percent of the forests saved for future use and 20 percent to be used for development.

The Town of Chapel Hill community and the town council members will hear the update on the Greene Tract of Chapel Hill on Wednesday, March 8 at 7 pm on Zoom and in person at the town hall.

This is a developing story.
