CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — UNC has often been called the university of national champions. But soon it might also be a university of Jeopardy champions.
UNC junior Stephanie Pierson appeared on the show last week and is participating in the show’s two-week High School Reunion Tournament. She made her first appearance on the show in high school and returned for this special tournament.
“It’s just so different to go from watching on TV to being in the driver’s seat,” Pierson told UNC.
“It’s just a lot to keep track of. You have to look at the buzzer. If you get a clue right, you have to pick the next clue. Then you have to think about wagering strategy and, ‘Oh wait. I’m in XYZ place. I need more money.’ You have to be really quick on your feet,’ she said.
Pierson’s win on last week’s show secured her spot in the semifinals. The winner of the contest will walk away with one hundred thousand dollars and a spot on the show’s annual Tournament of Champions. Her next appearance has yet to be announced, but more details are expected to be released in the coming days.
