CHAPEL HILL, NC – The UNC-Chapel Hill has received a very prestigious recognition. The State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs has recognized UNC as a top-producing institution for Fulbright Students.
“This recognition demonstrates that when our students leave Carolina, they are well prepared to enter the world as tomorrow’s leaders,” said Barbara Stephenson, UNC-Chapel Hill vice provost for global affairs and former U.S. ambassador.
The Fulbright Program is the country’s flagship international exchange program for graduate students. Program participants pursue graduate study, conduct research, or teach English abroad. In the 2022-2023 cycle, 16 Tar Heels were selected to be Fulbright Scholars.
“At UNC-Chapel Hill, we have committed to strengthening global partnerships and bringing the world to Carolina so that together we can address the world’s shared challenges,” said Stephenson.
On Tuesday evening, Secretary of State Antony Blinken formally recognized the university at an event in Washington D.C.
