CHAPEL HILL, N.C. –The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Hospitals is one of the many healthcare centers experiencing nursing shortages.
A recent survey done by the North Carolina Nurses Association (NCNA) to see how severe the case is at the hospitals of those who responded. In the case of those who responded, about 37 percent say they have a severe shortage and a little over 41 percent say they have a moderate shortage.
A new program between UNC-Chapel Hill and Pembroke to encourage diversity in healthcare and could streamline workers to UNC Hospitals. It will increase students for the program, as UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy is a highly competitive program to enter and meet the needs of the regions in terms of healthcare.
The first cohort of those accepted in the program will begin their journey in Fall 2023.
