CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Counseling and Psychological Services is implementing the program- and school-specific counselors.

The expansion includes the School of Media and Journalism and the School of Pharmacy. CAPS had already embedded the specific counselors into the Schools of Law and Medicine in 2020.

With the expansion, CAPS’s future plans include implementing the School of Public Health and Biomedical Sciences Programs.

The goal of the expansion is to increase access to mental health resources on campus to meet the needs of the students within the schools and programs.

The embedded counselors will work with the students within the schools and allow themselves to deeply understand the needs, stressors, and challenges of each school.

The knowledge of the program-specific will serve the students better and have a broader outreach and have proactive groups to do so.
