My research interests revolve around access to care, quality of care, and outcomes of adolescent and young adult (AYA) patients and caregivers as well as LGBTQIA+ patients and caregivers. I am particularly interested in AYA and LGBTQIA+ population’s unique caregiving support networks and how cancer treatment negatively impacts their financial, social, and developmental well-being.
Stephanie S. Sperry (she/her), PhD Student, Health Policy & Management Email | Website
Stephanie S. Sperry is a PhD student minoring in Health Politics and Policy. Stephanie completed a Master of Public Health in Health Policy at UNC and received a Bachelor of Arts in Public Health Policy from the University of California, Irvine. Prior to coming to UNC, Stephanie worked as a Public Health Investigator for the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health. Her research interests focus on the health outcomes of informal caregivers, particularly as it relates to new parents’ access to paid family leave policies. As a trained birth doula, she has also been exploring the value of birth doulas in public health and their potential to improve birth outcomes.

Camille R. Murray is passionate about supporting young families navigating serious illness, whether the patient is a child or a caregiver, particularly in the context of systems of oppression. Her research interests revolve around identifying unmet needs in these vulnerable populations, developing evidence-based interventions, and rigorously evaluating their effectiveness to improve healthcare quality, access, and outcomes. Prior to seeking a PhD, Camille received her Master of Public Health, with a focus in Social, Behavioral, and Health Education Sciences, from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University and both a Bachelor of Science and Arts in Nutritional Sciences and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from The University of Texas at Austin.
