The local non-profit Hope Gardens is sponsoring the upcoming UNC event of the Great Carolina Cook-Off on Thursday, March 30 from 6 PM to 9 PM in the Great Hall of the Student Union. The Great Carolina Cook-Off is a campus-wide cooking contest that allows students to judge the winners. Campus organizations (with missions related to food) prepare samples for participants to taste. For each admission, students get 8 tickets and a token. Each sample costs one ticket. After using all 8 tickets sampling, the students than vote by giving their token to the organization which they thought produced the best food. The organization with the most tokens will win a cash prize and a trophy.

In addition to the competition, there will be a lecture by Dr. Molly De Marco on food access issues in North Carolina. Dr. De Marco is a Research Assistant Professor of Nutrition, Research Scientist at the UNC Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. She also is a member of the UNC Food for All Committee.

Make sure to purchase your tickets beforehand at the Student Union Box Office, in the Pit on March 27-30 from 10 AM to 2 PM, at the door or at:
