The main niche our project fulfills in the big wide world of mobile apps is providing a way for future married couples to view how compatible they are with one another. Our service will use a quantitative and empirical approach to compute and transform couple compatibility into easily understandable numbers and charts. After taking our app’s questionnaire and viewing results, couples will be provided with expert assistance to help strengthen specific areas of the relationship.

Being a part of a stable relationship that you can be confident in has a large influence on a person’s wellness and mental health. Before “I Do” has the ability to inform its users whether a relationship is set for success. More importantly, if there are any areas it has identified that the couple should work on, the app can point the pair to the appropriate resources so they can fix those issues. Identifying and rectifying these problems before marriage can greatly increase the relationship’s probability of success and prevent a lot of stress down the road for the couple.

This project is also a big point of research for PhD student, Sinem Kocadayi, at ECU’s School of Education who is studying factors of a successful marriage. Sinem aims to expand this project to different languages in countries other than English, specifically Turkey. This project has an overarching goal of being accessible by Turkish people on both Android and iOS devices so that Turkish couples can assess and work together on their relationship viability.
