Our Soldering Skills Training program at the Biomedical Engineering Fabrication Lab (BME Fab Lab) is specifically designed to provide graduate and undergraduate students working in research labs with the essential soldering skills required for their projects. With a strong emphasis on safety and adhering to industry standards such as IPC J-STD-001, participants will learn the proper techniques to create reliable and precise soldered connections.
During the training, participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of soldering, tailored to their skill level and project requirements. Depending on their focus area, they will either delve into through-hole soldering or explore the intricacies of microsoldering and surface-mount rework. Through hands-on practice, participants will gain a deep understanding of the soldering process and develop the skills necessary to achieve professional-level results.
Our comprehensive training covers essential topics such as soldering safety protocols, the importance of using flux paste for optimal solder flow, and techniques for fixture wires and circuit boards to ensure stability during soldering operations. Participants will also learn how to effectively troubleshoot circuits using a multimeter, enabling them to identify and resolve common electrical issues.
Each Soldering Skills Training session lasts approximately 1 hour, providing a focused and immersive learning experience. Our instructors will guide participants through step-by-step demonstrations, hands-on practice, and personalized feedback to ensure proficiency in soldering techniques.
