Our Laser Cutter Training program at the Biomedical Engineering Fabrication Lab (BME Fab Lab) is designed to equip graduate and undergraduate students working in research labs with the essential skills to harness the capabilities of our Universal Laser Systems Laser Cutter. By mastering this cutting-edge technology, participants will be empowered to bring their design ideas to life with unparalleled precision and creativity.

During the training, participants will be introduced to Adobe Illustrator, a powerful design software widely used in the industry. They will learn how to prepare DXF files, ensuring optimal compatibility with the laser cutter. With hands-on guidance, they will explore the intricacies of laser cutting and engraving techniques, discovering the endless possibilities for creating intricate designs and adding personalized details to their projects.

Our comprehensive training covers essential topics, including the concept of kerf—the width of material removed by the laser—and its impact on design accuracy. Participants will learn how to set up the laser cutter for various thicknesses of acrylic, enabling them to achieve precise cuts and engraving depths based on their specific project requirements.

Moreover, troubleshooting is a key component of our Laser Cutter Training. Participants will gain practical knowledge on identifying and addressing common issues that may arise during laser cutting operations. This valuable troubleshooting skill set will ensure seamless and efficient fabrication processes, saving time and minimizing errors.

Each Laser Cutter Training session lasts approximately 1 hour, providing a focused and comprehensive learning experience.
