Dr. James Patton and PhD student, Valentino Wilson, attended SfN 2024 in Chicago. They brought their device prototype (D3) and presented the latest data from their project. Each year, scientists from around the world attend the SfN annual meeting to discover new ideas, share their research, and experience the best the field has to offer.
Several PIs attended the Stroke Survivor Conference on April 20, 2024 at the UNC Comprehensive Stroke Center in Morrisville, NC. This event allows an opportunity for fellowship among stroke survivors, their caregivers and health care professionals, and also provides an opportunity for education with speakers scheduled throughout the event.
Dr. Helen Huang attended the Summer School on Neurorehabilitation in Baiona, Spain, in June 2023. She was the invited Plenary Lecture Speaker who discussed her research on design and control of wearable robots for neurorehabilitation.
Dr. Derek Kamper attended a summer school in June 2023 at the Clinica Hildebrand in Brissago Switzerland. It was titled “Towards a Continuum of Robot-Assisted Therapy,” and faculty instructors, (e.g., Derek Kamper), clinicians, and students shared experiences and ideas regarding rehabilitation of movement and task performance. Student groups, guided by instructors and clinicians, worked with clients from the Clinica to design user-specific interventions. Many thanks to members of the Rehabilitation Engineering Laboratory (RELab) at ETH Zurich, the FHT Singapore-ETH Centre, and the Clinica Hildebrand for the science, the views, the food, and the hospitality. Special thanks to Giada Devittori for her incredible organizational skills.
