Ideation

In the Ideation stage, design thinkers spark off ideas in the form of questions and solutions.

My initial ideation was based on student feedback (see define page) that UNC is not doing enough to support black and brown students on campus. My first question was: If faculty or staff are not doing enough, how can students be a part of the solution?

After feedback and reflection, I understood that I needed to consider additional perspectives such as faculty, campus leadership, designated DEI leaders, community organizations, majority students (allies), and other people who are involved in this work.

I revised my question to state:  Revised Question: How can students work together with campus leadership, DEI leaders, faculty and staff to provide a safe and supportive environment for black and brown students on campus.

Based on the desire for all students on campus to feel safe, valued and supported so that students will focus more on academics and less on issues on campus, I included an Academic Focus rating to provide me and campus leadership with a measure of how well the My Advocate App is working for students:
