About Me

Hey, I am Anna McLean Evans, but I often go by Anna Mac! I am currently a first-year student at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and am majoring in media and journalism. I have always enjoyed writing, telling people’s stories and being creative. Being active and outdoors is a huge part of who I am. I also love to travel, explore new places, and learn as much as I can.

Experience

In high school, I was involved in my school newspaper all four years, which led me to my passion for journalism. I started as a section editor and made my way to Editor-in-Chief my senior year. Through these roles I learned design, writing, collaboration, problem solving, and leadership skills. Outside of school, I have worked multiple jobs, starting as a front of house employee at Chick-fil-A and working two summers as a hostess at Barefoot Bernies Restaurant in Kitty Hawk. Working in the fast-paced environment of the food industry showed me that I was able to persevere and remain level-headed in high pressure situations. When I wasn’t working or completing school work, I spent my time babysitting and petsitting for various local families. I also participated in a month long leadership in training program at Camp Don Lee and worked the next summer as a camp counselor. This experience gave me an immense level of responsibility but the relationships I developed with the campers each week made it worth it.

Overall, I am an independent individual with a wide range of valuable work and leadership experience. I am ambitious and am always up for a challenge. As of right now, I plan to focus on advertising and marketing within the UNC Hussman school and cannot wait to see what the future holds for me. Below is a link to my high school writing portfolio.
